Abstract Submission Guidelines

  • Submission of abstracts will start on February 15, 2026. The final submission date is June 1, 2026
  • Abstract can only be submitted via the website at www.totbid2026.org. Abstracts sent via fax or email will not be considered.
  • Abstracts will be evaluated by the scientific committee. After peer-review by the scientific committee, a decision will be made regarding whether the abstracts will be presented orally or as a poster. The scientific committee’s decision will be sent to the corresponding author who uploaded the abstract by email.
  • Authors must indicate one of the following three options regarding their presentation preference:
    • a-oral Presentation,
    • b-poster,
    • c-oral presentation or poster.
  • It is mandatory to enter the email addresses and ORCIDs of all authors in the notes section.
  • The author who uploads the abstract will be considered as the corresponding author, and further correspondence will be conducted with the uploading author. The presenting author must be identified by underlining the author’s name during the upload process.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for the accuracy and scientific integrity of the submitted abstract.
  • The corresponding author agrees to serve as the primary contact for all correspondence and to keep co-authors informed regarding the status of the abstract.
  • The corresponding author confirms that all co-authors are aware of the abstract content, support the data, and have granted permission for submission. Proof of such permission must be provided upon request.
  • A maximum of 6 authors may be included in an abstract produced from a single-center study. In multi-center study abstracts, the number of authors cannot exceed 10 (ten). The author order cannot be changed after submission.
  • Authors declare at the time of abstract uploading that their abstract has not been published in an academic journal.
  • Any financial interests related to products or processes mentioned in the abstract must be disclosed.

The following points should be considered when preparing the abstract:
1. The following types of abstracts are accepted:

  • Clinical research
  • Experimental research
  • Retrospective / Prospective clinical study
  • Technical note / surgical technique (Poster only)
  • Case report (at least 3 cases, with contribution to the literature; Poster only)
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (Poster only).

2. The abstract category should be selected from the following list:

  • General Orthopedics
  • Arthroplasty
  • Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries
  • Foot and Ankle
  • Extremity Reconstruction and External Fixation
  • Hand and Microsurgery
  • Spine
  • Shoulder and Elbow
  • Orthopedic Traumatology
  • Pediatric Orthopedics
  • Orthopedic Oncology

3. General features to consider when preparing abstracts:

  • The title and author names must be written in bold.
  • The name of the presenting author must be underlined.
  • Institutional affiliations must be written in italics and provided in the following order: department, university/faculty, city, country
  • Abstract structure should consist of Title, Keywords, and Body. 
    • Title: Should be concise; use title case only for proper nouns, abbreviations, and the first letter of the sentence. Trade names, non-standard abbreviations, or author names must not be used in the title and should not exceed 200 characters (including spaces)
    • Keywords: Provide at least 3 and no more than 7 keywords that facilitate indexing and identification of the study
    • Body: The body of the abstract should include the following sections: Background, Aim, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. The length of the abstract must not exceed 2750 characters.
      • Background: Why is your study needed? What do we already know, and what gaps exist?
      • Aim: What is the research question your study aims to answer?
      • Methods: In the Methods section, summarize how the study was conducted by clearly describing the number of cases/subjects, the clinical, diagnostic, and experimental methods used, and the statistical method(s) used.
      • Results Present the quantitative or qualitative data obtained and, if applicable, the statistical results.
        • Abstracts may include a maximum of 1 table and 1 figure.
        • Tables are limited to a maximum of 10 rows and 10 columns.
        • Images must have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI and a minimum size of 100x100mm in JPG or PNG format.
        • Do not include in-text citations such as "(Figure 1)" or "(Table 1)". Reference numbers or direct citations must not be included in the abstract text
      • Conclusion: Summarize the conclusions reached from the data obtained and discuss the study's contribution to science.
    • Author names and institutional affiliations must not appear in the title or abstract text.
    • If abbreviations are used in the abstract, they should be clearly stated the first time they appear.
      Case Reports must follow this structure:
      o Introduction: Provide brief background information.
      o Case: Present the clinical case.
      o Conclusion: State the key takeaways.
    • The following points are considered in peer review; taking these points into account will increase the likelihood of acceptance:
      • The aim of the study should be valid, meaningful, and understandable,
      • Sufficient number of cases/subjects,
      • The method used must be understandable and reproducible by other researchers,
      • If it is a clinical study, it must have a sufficient follow-up period, a control group, and be prospective,
      • The findings must be clear and understandable,
      • Statistical evaluations must have been performed,
      • The data must be interpreted correctly,
      • Correct and meaningful conclusions must be reached,
      • The study must contain new information/opinions.

    4. . If a study accepted to the 2026 congress scientific program cannot be presented for any reason, the organizing committee must be notified in writing by 1 September 2026 via:kongresekreteri@totbid2026.org no later than September 1, 2026.

    5. For accepted abstracts to be included in the congress program book, at least one author must register for the congress by 3 October 2026.

    6. All abstracts submitted to our congress will undergo a peer/judge review process to ensure compliance with scientific standards, and the evaluation process will be conducted using a confidential evaluation method.

    7. The oral and poster presentations at the 35th National Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Congress will be published in the congress proceedings at Acta Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica following the congress.
